The White Series: Anna Rekas

We weren't worried when Anna Rekas told us that she would refuse to bleach her eyebrows for a great internship as she proved what creative peaks she can ascend with her design for the White Show. Replacing needle and thread with wooden sticks and string, she injected life into the inanimate body of a chair. Wrapped in extravagant drapery and pleating, her sizeable creation was a confluence of structure and volume. It might be her first term in BA Womenswear, but her meticulous craftsmanship and forward-thinking innovation will stand her in good stead.

White Series: Paolina Alexandra Russo

BA Graphic Design students Phillip Koll and Ollie Vanes collaborated to create a new White Show experience, by 'scanning' the models from every angle and making the final image 360 degrees visual. Phillip explained that the main challenge for shooting the White Project, was the fact that one hardly sees depth or texture when photographing the colour. So, the duo got up close, shot every garment inside-out, and built a bridge between old and new ways of approaching photography. We kick off the White Series with Alex Russo, who talks about inevitable bloodstains on her crisp white garment, furniture bondage, and 'popping the bubble of Central Saint Martins'.
