“I knew quite early in life I wanted to create.” In a gentle tone of voice, carrying a sensibility akin to a Rupi Kaur poem, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts alumna Lykke Lund Rasmussen starts our conversation by telling me how, from a young age, she’s been drawn to the idea of living in her own world of fantasy and wonder. Before applying to the Copenhagen-based school, Lykke attended a foundation programme focused on the design process and technical skills. She discovered fashion to be a medium perfectly fit for storytelling, adding a meaningful layer to the profession. “I fell in love with the idea of being able to create garments that would act as a narrative form for others to read in on and to interact with.”
