Ask 1 Granary! A Christmas Advice Column

Looking Back and Moving Forward: Our Christmas Advice Column is Back!

As the year winds down, we find ourselves reflecting on what made this year special. For us at 1 Granary, it’s the moments of connection with our community that truly stand out. We’ve loved hearing your thoughts, feelings, and challenges—whether in our comment and private messages section, during our mentoring sessions, or at our events where advice was freely exchanged.

These exchanges have always been at the heart of what we do. 1 Granary has long been a space where industry taboos are broken, and topics like mental health, finances, insecurity, and failure are discussed openly. Your candid stories and questions have inspired our content, but we’ve often wished we could do even more—to help not just those who reached out, but also those who may have stayed silent, grappling with similar challenges.

So, in the spirit of giving this holiday season, our mini-advice column is back! This Christmas, we want to make the most of the season’s warmth and generosity by creating a space for learning and growth as we count down to the New Year together.

Have a creative study or career dilemma that’s keeping you up at night? If your roommate, grandma, or even your cat has had enough of your complaints, we’re here to help! Send us your questions, and we’ll consult our network of experts and industry insiders to offer solutions to your most pressing concerns.

Here’s what your question might look like:

  • “Hello, 1 Granary! How can I turn my dream internship into a paid job? I’ve been interning at a mid-scale London-based brand for over a year, and while I love the experience, I want to be compensated for my work. I’m scared to speak up because I don’t want to lose this amazing opportunity. How do I approach this?”
  • “Hi, 1 Granary! I’m a second-year BA student at LCF. While I love being in the studio, presenting my work to tutors is nerve-wracking. I can’t sleep for days before a presentation, and my nerves leave me exhausted and forgetful when I need to speak. Is it essential to get over this stage fright for a career in fashion? And if so, how can I do it?”

If you have a question like these, send us an email at ask@1granary.com by Wednesday, 10th December, and we’ll do our best to provide thoughtful and practical advice. Let’s step into the New Year feeling informed, inspired, and ready to tackle whatever challenges come our way!
